US Ski Team comes to Vail

November 01, 2012 The U.S. Ski Team Takes to the Slopes on Vail’s Golden Peak for Early-Season Training Today VAIL, Colo. – Nov. 1, 2012 – The U.S. Ski Team began early-season training this morning on Vail Mountain, the largest ski resort in the U.S., and will continue training throughout the month of November as the World Cup season heats up. Vail Mountain operations teams have taken advantage of natural snowfall last week combined with snowmaking and grooming efforts to prepare the Golden Peak race course for training.Crews have also beenmaking snow on Born Free on the western side of Vail Mountain in preparation for opening day of the resort’s 50th anniversary season on Friday, Nov. 16. Fans can catch some of their favorite ski racers, including Olympic gold medalists like Lindsey Vonn, Bode Miller and Julia Mancuso, up close as the 2013 U.S. Alpine Ski Team is named in Vail on Thursday, Nov. 15.
